My silver interior scratches so much!!!!!!!!!!!

Got silver downtubes (aka dashboard legs) in your MINI?

They can be easily scratched.

Read this thread for peoples comments and see what a couple of them are doing about it!!

I am a little concerned about this too, so when i get my MINI i have decinded to take off the down tubes and get them resparayed, might even have them sprayed a different colour pehaps black to match the center console, the scratches are also a reason for ordering the "alloy patina dash" as it looks scratched already and won't show marks as easily

Hi Ady,

Have you considered spraying the down tubes to match your body colour? I can't recall what your colour choice is for your S, but colour coding them like this could make the tubes look like more functional.

I am only getting a Cooper but that aside, the interior will be red/black anyway with the alloy patina. i think that a black to match to heater control area might work well, perhaps a matt black, still haven't decided yet.

Mine haven't actually scratched yet but I'm considering spraying them with clear laquer to protect them and make them look like the dash more..... (those silver trim bits must be cheap to buy anyway so it won't matter if it goes badly wrong)

What do you reckon??

the MINI has gone...

It would have been nice if they matched the gloss finish of the dash anyway, the clear laquer seems like a great idea !

i have to agree that the down tubes are likely to be cheap to replace, laquer was also something i have considered, and if the tubes are shiny then it will match the dash too.
Hmmmmmmm too many ideas

OK so I was a little scared about taking my dash to bits and spraying it with clear laquer so I decided to try the ashtray first!

And the result is superb! It looks much better! I'm gonna take the plunge (hopefully tomorrow) and spray both the vertical bits in the same way.

Here's a pic (I took one without a flash so you could see the light from the monitor reflecting which illustrates the glossy look)
