icelink plus h/k 53???

Hi everybody.... (in the voice of the doctor on the simpsons!) hope everyone has the xmas tree up!
back to the point....

i have just got an icelink plus for my 53reg cooper s, it has h/k and boost and multifunction steering wheel, ive installed it fine and a can listen to songs from the ipod through the hu.
i have updated the firmware to 4_b4

my problem is that i cant seem to get much control over the ipod through the hu or mfsw! if i press number 6 then i can use the ipod normaly but i cant use it any other way apart from skip songs........

also the text..... im pretty sure u cant get text on the hu cause its a 2003 but not 100% , so could someone confirm this please....
