Personal Digital Assistant for mini's

Mini will be offering a fully portable personal digital assistant (PDA) in the form of the iPAC Pocket PC from Compaq.The hand held pda slots into a bracket on the dash above the speedo and features upto FOUR inter-connected systems that download information digitally.
When not it the mini the pda can be connected to a desk top PC allowing any relevant information to be up-or-downloaded.
The four systems are NAVIGATION/TELEPHONE,SMS/MINI ASSIST /MINI ONLINE and ENTERTAINMENT.Each can be customized for the customers own requirements.
Intergrating all four systems offers features including navigation,news,entertainment info,links to the emergency services and the good old weather..!
Additional hardware and software offers the opportunity to DOWNLOAD MP3'S,and convert the PDA into a MOBILE PHONE or DIGITAL CAMERA...
MINI ONLINE is a mobile internet portal that includes E-MAIL.ADDRESS BOOK,PHONE BOOK,YELLOW PAGES,SHARE PRICES,CITY GUIDES,NEWS,TRAVEL INFO,CINEMA INFO,WEATHER 24HR CHEMISTS! and a 3D VIEW of the current cars location..
On a more serious note if you are involved in an accident an automatic emergency call is sent to the MINI ASSIST call center if the airbags are triggered.A call center operator would then try and contact the driver and if the call is not returned,send an ambulance to the current location which is given from the navigtaion system..

The navigation,telephone/sms and entertainment systems described above will be launched on the PDA in germany
in Autumn 2002 followed by MINI Assist/MINI Online in March 2003.The UK is aiming to launch a similar system in spring 2003..No prices yet..
