A crazy Dension Gateway 100 problem!

I bought my Dension 100 from Mikey about 9 months ago and have been travelling for the past 6. Just got back and started driving my car again and remembered the problem I had with the Dension before I went away.

The sound is totally rubbish basically. Awful in fact. The volume is pretty muted and there's hardly any base. You have to turn the volume up so that the speakers are buzzing so loud just to be able to hear the music at a low volume. Forget playing your ipod on the motorway.

I was starting to think that it was just because the Dension things are rubbish but my Mrs recently bought an Audi A2 with the same Dension fitted and the sound is amazing. No worse than Cd at all with great base.

So I emailed Dension and asked if there was anything I could do. They are saying to try this first but otherwise the product must be faulty so return it:

" Please use attached volume setting files and choose some higher output volume." There is an attached file that has 5 seperate mp3's named
'volume 1', 'volume 2' and so on. The tech guy also says "turn your dension to GW mode where the ipod's keys are locked. Then download the mp3s onto your ipod. Play the files and attach it whilst they are playing to your dension lead".

Does anyone have any idea what's going on with it or does anyone understand that tech support? im baffled.

I think he's saying.

1) Download the mp3s onto your ipod.
2) Play mp3s without connecting the ipod to the car.
3) while playing connect the ipod.

Not sure what this is going to do.

As far as the ipod being locked, I'm not sure about the details of the 100. My old 300 had a number of settings, one where the ipod could be controlled by the click wheel while connected, the other where it could not. The tech guy is saying to use the mode where the click wheel cannot be used and all the contorl being done via the HU.

The gateway products are brilliant. I never had any problem with mine and the sound quality was every good as the CD. If I recall correctly the 100 has a setting in the menu that controls the AUX volume, which is essentially what you are using, AUX.
