Headunit walkthrough

Hi everyone, just joined up on here and have to admit I don't actually own a Mini! Been on a few forums though and this one looks like a good one and there appear to be some really great cars on here

The reason I came on here in the first place is that my sister does have a Mini (a One Seven) which currently has the standard CD headunit in it. I'm looking to replace this with some form of satnav unit and wondered if there is a walkthrough or guide to how to remove the headunit and fit a new one? I tried searching but couldn't find anything so please forgive me if there is one

Does anyone have recommendations on the particular headunit? The obvious choice seems to be the Pioneer as it's the only single DIN all in one unit (so installation should be straightforward), but I don't want to ignore the Kenwood or Alpine purely on this basis.

Also I can see a few people have these fold out screen type headunits, have any of you had problems with the position of the screen in relation to the speedo?

Thanks in advance for any help with this, I have a Lexus myself and know my way around that quite well but not sure where to start with this one!
