DAB Radio

Hi all,

I know this has been discussed before, but what are the options nowadays for DAB radio on a first gen MINI? I've seen the Kenwood DAB module discussed, which allows you to use your existing headunit, but are there any other options? I do like the idea of adding a module (I don't really want to change the headunit) but it's around £100 for the Kenwood, which seems a bit too much just for enabling DAB. Plus you have to have a separate remote to control it.../

Any comments would be appreciated!

Thanks Chris, looks interesting! I never thought of a DAB/FM transmitter combo.

I guess the downsides for me would be that it is not the prettiest thing in the world (I have factory nav at least so I don't need to have a Tom Tom or whatever as well as this) with cables dangling etc, and the other issue is that I wouldn't be able to control it with the steering wheel. I tend to switch between stations quite often (I'm not particularly loyal to any station, I switch over when a song's playing which I don't like)

If you want the neatest and best option that displays all the information on the sat nav screen plus allows for seemless intergration with streering wheel controls for then look into this :

In addition this will give you the best IPOD connection aswell.... details will appear on the sat nav screen. The only downside is that the Alpine DAB tuner is not made anymore so quite hard to get hold of.

anyone found any other solutions? I have found online Acoustic Solutions' DAB-ICS100 (Acoustic Solutions DAB-ICS100 DAB car radio) and wondered if anyone with a first gen MINI has installed this and had any reports/feedback.
