Mini Cooper S JCW 2003 Sat Nav

Hia All.

Please forgive me I am a total newbie. I have the above car, with factory sat nav. I have purchased the 2009 maps and i am a little disappointed that there still a bit drab and 2d. Have sniffed around the forum here i understand there is an upgrade available for the sat nav it's self, rather than just new maps. From there i get confused. I need to establish wheather my sat nav dvd is a mark 3 or mark 4 and then download the software. Can any one give me an idiots guide on how to establish the model and the best place to download an upgrade.

I contacted my local BMW showroom they told me no such thing existed!

Hi Martin

From the menu select SET, and then the version should be shown on the screen.

If it's 3-X/XX then it's a CD based 2d version.
If it's 4-X/XX then it's the DVD based version and can be upgraded.

Alternatively, look under the driver's seat at the back, there's a slot you can open to reveal the satnav computer, the MK4s say DVD in the middle.

In an 03 car or newer it should have the DVD unit.

You can download the firmware upgrade CD image from a number of places, just look for the following file name : NAV_SW(v32).iso

NOT true, I have 2009 CD disc in my Mk3, works fine!

Well, excuse me. If it's a legit pressed 2009 disk then it's almost certain to be on DVD, and seeing as he said he purchased it then that means it's almost certain to be legit.

Pray tell, how did you purchase your 2009 map CD?
