Ipod Interface

Hello all,

I hope that my questions regarding the ipod interface aren't too inane, I'm pretty new to all this business. So I'm hoping to get the interface fitted to a 54 cooper i have my beady eye on and am wondering the following:

i) is the £350 everybody seems to expect dealers to charge for the job based on a mini with a standard steering wheel, i.e. no multi-function features whatsoever.

ii) does anyone know whether it would work with the iphone 3g, as this acts as my ipod aswell as my phone?

Thanks in advance!

I can't answer all your questions as I don't have the official Mini iPod interface but I too was considering it and after looking at all the options settled on buying a new stereo for the car.

Mainly due to the fact that the standard iPod kit doesn't have anywhere near as much functionality as a dedicated head unit. They're easy as pie to install yourself and it works with my new iPhone 3GS.

Don't want to put you off your purchase but some food for thought... :-)

Not sure what functionality you get with the full car interface, just to let you know I had an aux in input added by my local dealer £120. Sounds great with music from the iPhone plus you get the benefit of being able to plug anything else in which has a headphone socket.
