Radio Hi Just bought a mini cooper 03 plate, the radio is non mini and not very good quality. Am looking to purchase a built in mini radio as I don't want to have to remove the front of the radio all the time, where can I buy these from ? mini wesite is saying they cost £425 new. Any suggestions? |

| If you go into the dealer they're cheaper. That price on the mini accessories as far as I know is for the boost set up (better speakers and the CD player). You could try ringing mikey at new mini stuff - he may have some from when he's changed people's stereo over... ![]() The Original MINI One Seven Yorkshire MINI Register - PM for details |

| There are a lot of things that pop to mind on this.... First, has teh harness been altered in any way with teh fitting of the other radio or was a kit used? If it was hacked, it won't be as easy to simply fit a MINI radio. Also, you need to identify if it is round pin or flat pin on the connector as there are two different styles. This is not as big of a deal as you can get a changer from Mikey at NewMINIStuff.com Frankly I would highly recommend that you contact him to get it sorted. He may even have a few radios to sell at a cheaper rate. I suspect that you would rather have a Boost version as they sound a lot better but it all depends on how the car was originally setup. | Standard MINI radios have never been great and in the first gen they are not really built in they were just DIN sized and as 'removeable' or otherwise as anything else. Like others I would take the opportunity to go to Halfords or wherever and get a half decent one fitted. At this time of year you could probably get an IPOD compatible one for £100 or less.....and then start on the speakers! |

| I have the HK (same radio) and find that it is a great system. It lacks many of the functionality of an aftermarket radio, but sound quality is very good. The above being said, I do agree that if you are going to spend the money to go OEM you might as well invest in a better system. |
