Radio Harness, round or flat pin??

I will soon take delivery of my '03 Cooper and intend to change the standard wave radio for something after market.
What i want to know from someone who has done it is what type of pins will i find? flat or round, i have already purchased an adapter and need to find out if its the right one.

Cheers Dom, i think they have changed the later cars to round pin, the adapter i have bought is for '01 cars onward.
Not a bad price £19.99 for a kit, including facia adapter, harness and aerial adapter and made by autoleads

wave uses round pins
make sure the aerial adaptor is the right one, early minis had the common 3 ukp stuby adaptor the all now have the bmw style one. the autoleads one looks like this

My 03 Cooper S was delivered in late September with a Wave radio. As mike says the connector is the older round pin adapter.

I bought both the round pin and flat pin adapters as several people, including autoleads and connect2 had advised me that even the basic wave radio had recently switched falt pins. This proved not to be the case and the flat pin adapter was returned.

Be careful fitting the aerial adapter that mike has shown. The socket has a very tiny centre pin which must be located properly into the exsting connector in the loom. With my adapter the centre pin was supplied slighly bent, did not engage properly and led to reception problems.

Yes it does - it uses the same connector as the BMW 3 series, so the same adaptor will work

Hi Dom,

Any idea what pin format MINI are using for Boost in a Cooper S these days?

Hi R50,

£19.99 for the Autoleads kit is a bargain...Where did you get it?

Thanks Guys. Soopacoopa

Haven't looked at the boost, however, mikeythemini has had plenty of experience with his S I believe...

Hey guys,

Im going to be driving a mini one originally bought in 2001, it is fitted with the standard radio at the time.

I really want an aux in so will have to change the head unit, forgive me for asking again as this has probably already been answered earlier, will I require the Round Pin for the Harness?

Any ideas on a package deal that comes with the headunit and all the adaptors and fascia? I don't really want to go much over £100.

I did have my heart set on something but have had to change my mind after reading some really poor reviews of the retailer.

Thanks

Mak
