uk radar detector?

Just read the yanks articles on radar detectors, but what's the best device for sale here in blighty.

Idealy I would like one that I can also use on my motorbike as well as the cooper.

Well I reckon the Valentine V1 is as good as they get BUT they only ship to the US ($399 + $39 for dash display).

If you get one in the UK they cost a fortune, so get one when you are in the US, wait for a friend to be there or ask one of our american friends on the forum if they woiuld ship one over after you deliver it to their address

I've got a Velentine One Generation 2 and must say that it is excellent. The arrows showing the direction of a radar source allows you to identify false alarms. With a normal radar detector you would just get the bleeps/warnings.

I emailed one company, Networx Automotive, for their opinions on the Geodesy, Origin Blue i and Road Angel. They said that the Origin was the better informative unit but overall the Road Angel was a better performer even though it looks like a cheapo Chinese plastic toy.

When I asked: GPS or Radar? They said radar as it covers mobile sites too. They did say that laser warnings can be marginal as normally the instant-on effect means that you are probably nicked!

is there any sites that test uk spec Radar Detectors? reviews etc, am considering getting one possibly the Snooper SD 715i 'bout £179 or so. Is it any good?

Cool, thanks Newboy the site gives the SD715i a good write up and says its as good as the valentine One and the Bell 990 but for half the price and its good for gatsos.

I've been considering one of the GPS systems for weeks but can't make up my mind. To me, they all seem to do basically the same thing, apart from the Road Angel which apareently beeps an awful lot. What I really want to know is what they look like fitted in the new MINI. Does anyone have any photos? Also, has anyone got one of the new Morpheus RoadPilots yet?
