United-Kingdom Sat nav screen keeps turning on and off

Hello everyone,

I have been reading posts on this forum for some time now but still can't figure out what my problem is.

My mk3 (CD) Sat nav has been playing up for a while, and recently it tells me "no sat nav disc inserted" which i have rectified by polishing my CD to remove scrathes, it now seems to be much happier but at the same time there seems to be another problem (i thought it was the same problem because it could not find or read the sat nav cd) in that the screen will randomly just turn off, sometime reboot (with the mini logo coming back up) but mostly the screen will go blank but stay on????

I have check my battery early one morning and it seems to be holding its charge (11.99V). Any suggestions as to what would be causing this????

Thank you for your time

Carl

Hi

You say you have removed the scratches from the cd it may be possible that the cd is damaged now,
You may have tried these but thought I would mention it
Get hold of a cd lazer lens cleaner, it just a cd you put in and it cleans the lazer unit inside the head unit.
There are places on the net you can download a copy of the cd, or if a mate has one try another cd, what also might be worth doing is if your cd is the latest copy is get hold of a previous one it my be a memory thing.
I would give mini a call see if there are any software/firmware updates for the car onboard systems that might effect the sat nav system.
I would also check all the connections to the cd unit its self unplug them and check the conections, made shore the drive is properly mounted.
If it an under seat mounted one it might be worth removing it and try blowing it out or cleaning it out with a airline or hover Incase the dust ect is making the processor over heat but just be carefull

Hope this helps
