2003 Cooper Indicator Stalk Replacement

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and have joined due to buying my wife a 2003 Cooper.
I have an issue with the indicator / light stalk. When the lights are on and you indicate right or left the main beam comes on. I have read and believe the stalk to be at fault?
I have purchase a replacement to hopefully do this job at the weekend and just wondered if anyone had done this before? And if anyone has a guide to do this that would be great?

I also have a drivers door actuator to fit so a guide to this would be great also??

Thanks guys

I think the door actuator guide is listed here:

Don't remember a guide on the light stalk but you could try a search on here or the NAM Mini forum in the USA is a useful source of info via a quick search:

Hi Deano75, welcome to the forum - we've just been talking on eBay (AMc2012). I don't come here all that often but there is some good information.

If you check out the interior and ICE faq here it walks you through some of the common teardown tasks in the interior. I used the door instructions to get at the cabling to the inside handles when an over enthusiastic passenger pulled hard instead of pulling twice.

There is a good picture walkthrough of the glovebox too which I think you'll find interesting. It looks like there may be a few more T20 torx than I recall but it is still a simple job.

I've not had to remove the twigs on either of ours but I'm sure you'll get some idea from the links above. I think I'd probably disconnect the battery (after checking radio codes etc.) as the MINI can be a bit tempremental about changes to the wiring loom while live (see the airbag petition thread).

Good luck!
