Sat Nav System - CD to DVD is it possible?

Hey Guys

After Speaking to the local MINI dealer today, I have the CD version of the Sat Nav in my car, and if I want to update the maps I can, but the CD version is now obsolete, and the mapping only ran until 2009

I have heard that it is possible to put the MK4 DVD drive in place of the CD drive, but I wanted to check that this was actually possible before getting one

I have looked about but cant find one, unless i want to pay £400 which I do not!

Is the DVD drive mini Specific or was the drive used across a range of BMW cars?

Also is it ONLY the MK4 drive that fits, or are there others?

Well, I did some digging of my own

Yes, it is possible, you need the MK4 DVD unit, and it will plug and play just fine, and is map upgrade-able

Just incase anyone else needed to know

any bmw version 4 should work try ebay there £200 plus and nav discs real easy to get and the 2013 disc has post code input and speed camera detection
