2006 Roller Sun Blind Won't Lock Closed

I just bought a 2006 Mini Cooper with a split sunroof. The back roller sun blind won't lock closed. The locking mechanism looks ok but the two plastic parts on the outer ends of the blind are not inside the tracks. Should they be? If so, how can I get them back inside the tracks without breaking something?

Thanks.

I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner.

I just pulled one side farther forward than the other so the bar with the locking mechanism was at an angle, which enabled me to put one end in the track and the other end in the other track. As soon as they were in the tracks, the locking mechanism worked just fine.
