I want to retrofit an armrest for my R53 Cooper S but am having some confusion. I've found one from a breaker but don't understand how it will fit. I am attaching a pic of the one I found from them & the other one with legs from Mstyle in Essex.
The one with legs looks much easier to fit.
Has anyone done what I want to do and can assist me?
I've had a look at these before and in my opinion, the one with the legs is far easier to install. It only requires you to lift up the 2 front seats slightly which is simply a matter of unscrewing a few bolts. Then you just slide the legs underneath the seat and screw the bolts back in through the holes.
The one of the left definitely looks better, but it is much harder to install and requires taking the handbrake area out..
Hi, thanks for the reply. I think if I buy the breakers one it will cost me in extra parts so that it will fit & additionally, for resale, the one with the legs would be so easy to remove, the other, I wouldn't bother trying to remove...
This version available as a retrofit (pn 52-12-0-154-307) featured a support bracket which straddled the handbrake console and was secured below the seat railings:

This version available from the factory and can be retrofit with the purchase of a new handbrake console:
Thanks for that, now I have my answer, I need a new handbrake console which I won't do, so it will be the one with the legs that straddle the handbrake console, I know it doesn't look as good but no one will be sitting in the back anyway!
Thank you all for helping me make an informed decision.
If you want to sell your armrest that you are not going to fit, let me know as I might be able to use it... let me know how much if you do decide to sell.

Hi Gyro, I will PM you on Monday if I decide to sell it.
Cheers.
