Help with fitting after market stereo in R53 with HK speaker upgrade
I wondered if anybody could help. I have a 2004 Cooper S, with a Harman Kardon speaker upgrade, and I'm currently changing over the factory stereo to a new Pioneer unit. I've taken out the factory cassette unit and plugged in the new. I get power, and full functionality, but no sound at all. I've checked the speaker leads from the back of the stereo and there is power running through them all the way to the factory wires. When I plug in the old head unit again, I get sound straight away. I think I've found the amp for the HK speaker upgrade, so guess there is no power getting to this.
I've found a HK adaptor on New Mini Stuff that I'm guessing seems to address this problem. The problem is its extortionate in price and I have to wait something like 3-4 weeks for delivery. Has anybody come across this and sorted the problem without the need for this adaptor?
Thanks for any help given.
