I just got a Delphi XM radio and wondering where to best install antenna. I have an "S" with a sunroof.
The directions says to mount somewhere where there is 2 sq. ft. of metal and 5 inches away from edge of roof.
How important is this? Does anyone know the technical reasons why such requirements?
I had thoughts of mounting it directly behind the FM antenna and feed the wire through a weep hole in the FM antenna gasket and into the car with the FM antenna.
It appears the FM antenna is directly above the car alarm access panel behind the rear sunroof, then wires could travel above headliner to front and down to dash area.
Any other thoughts and comments.
