Heated Screen Tested

This morning there was a nice frost on my car. Switched on the front and rear heated screens (activated by the same button on the Auto Climate Control).

30 seconds later my windscreen was clear. It took about 2-3 minutes to clear the rear screen...

I am very impressed with the efficiency of the heated windscreen - Vis Pack is definitely worth the money.

I am so jealous! According to MINIUSA the Headed Windscreen/shield will not be offered in the USA.

I wish....

It was a chilly but not ridiculous -2 degrees C this morning in sunny Edinburgh, but the front washer jets were frozen solid - and this was after I filled up yesterday with 50/50 screenwash water in both reservoirs which according to the bottle is good for -16 degrees C.

So - I drove out of town to the airport and couldn't see anything and couldn't stop cause I was far too late, the traffic was awful etc etc - but got the flight by about a minute

- the strange thing was that the rear wash wipe and the headlamp washers were working fine!

Well - I got home tonight and it was down to -4 at the airport and same thing - the lights and rear washer were fine, but the windscreen was frozen solid....so I stopped to get petrol, and wash the screen and in the 5 minutes I was stopped, the heat soak from the engine must have done the trick cause they started working there after.

Are the heated washer jets retro-fittable - anyone know??

You spent all that money on xenon lights and heated windscreens and climate control and didn't spend £40 on heated mirrors/jets!?!?

If I misunderstand and you DO have them, it may have been frozen BEFORE the jets, which is what it sounds like... maybe your previous mix had frozen and wasn't so stong as your new 50-50 mix...?

I also have heated washer jets/mirrors - I've had too many crap winter journeys driving down the motorway when the windchill re-freezes the washer jets and your windscreen gets dirtier and dirtier...

Rob,

I've got one of the strange UK launch MCS cars that has that extra special Chilli pack....16 inch alloys and Washed Xenon lights with the special dim halogen bulbs....

And I don't have a heated screen either....I just posted in this thread cause it was sort of cold weather related.

I would like to get heated jets and heated seats and Zenon....just not sure whether it's possible and after 14 days of the car being in the garage in 7 months I can't be bothered taking it in again

John,
i think they might be retrofittable,
in the accessories brochhure, there are
"heated spray nozzles, p/n 61 66 0 029 716 - £54 inc VAT" (£45.96 ex)and;
"2-setting seat heating,p/n 61 11 0 029 495 - £70 inc VAT, (£59.58 ex)

Its probably worth checking that they are for the windscreen washers tho, the entry above is for headlight washer system, but i'm sure my headlights don't have heated washers.

Question

Can you see the wires in the front windscreen or are they invisible? Can you see them at night in headlights?

Just rated -16C??? Around here the cheapest washer fluid you can buy is rated -40C! The good stuff goes even lower! With heated jets and that fluid I don't really need a heated front screen.

Excellent!
Glad to see it finally really exists...
But we will never get it- USA needs to be able to use the EZpass etc.

can you see the wires..??

No, not unless you look really closely. Not visible at night with headlights either - no problems at all in fact...
