GTech/Pro Comp installation

Santa brought be a GTech/Pro Competition so the first thing I did was look for a good way to install it without needing the suction cup. This is what I ended up with:

What I did was remove the screw at the bottom of the left cup holder and found a longer replacement. A #12 1" sheet metal screw worked. I then cut a piece of wood to fit in the cup holder that is held in place with the new screw in a countersunk hole. The mounting post that comes with the GTech/Pro can then be screwed into the top of the wood. The wood can't be seen when everything is assembled.

Although the final position is not really ideal as it is not in the line of sight, I felt it worthwhile to have a neat installation that will stay put (unlike the suction cup). It is still easy to read and reach from driving position.

Nice installation! Aside from that, how do you find the GTech to be?

Here's how I installed mine.

added a cigarette plug, used the stock cable uncut, no visible holes, did drill vent trim ring and its in a very practical and useable location.
