Drivers seat lumbar support not working

I found the drivers seat was not very supportive. Turned the lumbar support and it doesn't seem to do anything. Passenger one is fine.

Easy fix or not? Wonder if a local independent could do it when being serviced.

Cheers

There are a lot of turns from minimum to maximum - maybe six or eight. Are you sure it is broken and not just slower to adjust than expected?

They can break and removing/refitting the 'spring mat, backrest' (item 3, including adjuster) is actually a DIY job if you are at all handy.

If I remember right when you pull the plastic back panel off the seat you can see the simple mechanism used to alter/tension the lumbar spring mat assembly when you turn the adjusting knob....I fixed mine and did not have to replace any parts so I think something had become disconnected.

Lots of info and links on seat problems here:

It just turns from one way to the other without anything happening so it could well be disconnected. Passenger one you can see it moving when you turn the handle. Will see if I can get the back off.

Thanks both

'Popping off' the seatback for a look takes one second - but only once you have mastered the technique.

See the two 'latch' shaped objects ringed in red?

The technique is:
- sit in the back seat;
- put both your thumbs on where you think the back ends of those two 'latches' are;
- hook your fingers over the top edge of the seatback:
- press forwards with your thumbs and pull back on the top edge to release those two latches.

You are trying to bend the top of the seatback so that the front end of those two latches are lifted and release from the seat frame.

If there is any significant resistance, you aren't doing it right - this does not require any wrenching (or indeed hoiking), it's a finesse operation! Just pulling indiscriminately can break the seatback, so fiddle about until it clicks open like the secret door in a horror movie.
