Question Alpine CHA-S634 and Harmon Kardon sound system

I have read other threads stating that the Alpine CHA-S634 CD changer cannot be connected to the HK sound system using the current BlitzSafe adaptor. Can anyone give me a detailed explanation why? If the head unit of the HK system is the same as the boost head unit (I thought they were) why would there be any issues? Or are people just saying this because nobody has actually tried it yet?

I'd like to confirm this fact as well-have you heard anymore? The Blitzsafe adapter does say it doesn't work w/ DSP varaitions of the BMW system....which I believe the H&K uupgrade does introduce to the head unit...so that may be the reason-if that's the case I wonder if there will be a Blitzsafe option or if there is another option?

I have heard nothing about this subject. I also emailed BlitzSafe and have not heard anything. Maybe it is just too soon. Why would DSP require a different converter? Different signals to the changer? If I hear anything I will post an update to this thread.

Can you tell me if your Blitzsafe adapter for the Mini Cooper still works w/ the new Mini Harmon Kardon upgrade? (same Mini/BMW head unit as before but w/ new speakers and amp & DSP upgrades).

Thanks!

I am scheduled to get my MCS with H/K in March. Then I will be installing the Alpine CHA-S634 unit. If I am the first to do this I will report my experience to this forum. thanks for getting the information from BlitzSafe. I feel much better about pursuing this installation now.

I get my MCS on the 27th Jan (10 days to go!!! ) with HK and intend to get an Alpine changer. If I'm the first to try it I'll let you all know how I get on.

Thanks...please do. Evidently Blitzsafe has a specific adapt. for DSP enabled system (H&K), so be sure to get this model (waiting for Blitzsafe to get back to me w/ model #). Evidently many of the folks that distribute (Crutchfield etc.) don't carry this version.
I don't get my MCS until April....so you guys will be first.

FYI-according to Blitzsafe tech support the new model you need for H&K is the "Mini/alp dmxv1 dsp". I'm pretty sure this is only available from blitzsafe and the other resellers don't have it yet....

wigwam,

Thanks for all of the good blitzsafe information. They don't even have that model on their web site yet.

Silly question: What is DSP? I have a 2004 with the single cd player. Does this unit have DSP?

perhaps mikeythemini would like to comment on this ? I too am expecting a new arrival in March and I have HK system and also planning on adding the Alpine CHA-S634. Do I understand correctly that currently on blitzsafe offer a converter for the HK / DSP system - or do others like connects2 have a suitble alternative ?
