Alpine CDA-7998?

hi there. i was thinking about putting a Alpine CDA-7998 headunit in my car. but i was wondering if there was any problem with you hand running into when operating the gear change. also, what does MFSW mean? is there a way to get this unit to work with the steering wheels controls. sorry i'm sorta newbee to this sound stuff. cheers.

do a search for the 7897, it's the same dimensions and a few people have that one installed. clearance is fine.

one warning about the possible alpine adaptor coming. alpine has a history for making MFSW adaptor for cars that only work on UK/European Decks. Apparently the US decks do not have a needed port on the back to support the adaptors. I'm not saying this will happen, but looking at the back of the 7894,7995,7897,7998, there is no port to plug in an MFSW adaptor like the Euro decks have...

mfsw adapter

I asked the same question of Alpine. They did not say if it would work with any US headunits when asked but did say they would not be offered in the US.
