Just got a 2004 Cooper for the wife - great little car, but: the original head unit has been swapped to a hideous blinking Sony, which is both ugly and lacks the audio of the factory fitted sat nav. I would prefer the original look and feel and found a Siemens/VDO CD player from a 2006 model (see attached); would that do the trick? Obviously AUX-input possibility and sat nav audio would be somewhat a must.
Any advice would be highly appreciated before I go and buy the thing. Something else to take into consideration?
Furthermore would need e.g. second keys with remote, a bit of programming to disable driveway locking and enable light member etc, but first things first...
I have a 2004 Cooper S original head unit you can have for £20+ shipping costs if you're interested?
Mint condition. I can take some photos and send them to you if you like.
It's an Alpine I believe, but looks pretty much the same as the one you posted.
The 2004 HU would be spot on and the requested price is ok as well. Only downside is that I'm located in Finland, i.e. shipping could be an issue. If not, drop me pm to discuss details.
Thanks for the pics, looks good. 40 GBP is fine, assuming you take Paypal (non-EUR bank transfers are ridiculously expensive).
Regarding the second question: was just wondering if there were different head units in cars equipped with sat nav, but probably not? Also understood that some of the earliest versions didn't have aux-input option at all.
Yes there are, my 2006 Mini has Satnav and it does not have that CD head unit, it has the one pictured below. I have fitted the Aux input to it (not plug and play due to the aux sharing the plug the sat nav audio does).
Thanks k3fus the info. I assume that's a Siemens/VDO head unit, so at least those are ok with sat nav. The one I found (pics in the first post) is from a 2006 MC, so should be a safe choice.
Any pointers for the aux kit?
