Has anyone done a speaker only upgrade?

I want to change the speakers and maybe add an amp, I want h/k quality. THe specs on the H;k are not better than most good speakers, so why would it be hard to replace the speakers and add a speaker level amp like the h/k to get the same quality? I was thinking of adding a set of infinity reference 5 1/3 components and 6x9 infinitys in the back hooked up to a 4x50 alpine amp. ANy experts out there think this is a problem with the boost head unit?

My understanding of the H/K system is that it contains a considerable amount of processing quite apart from the quality of the speaker and amp components. So simply replacing speakers and amps will not get you the H/K unit, though you should be able to obtain Pretty Good Sound (TM) in any event.
