Climate Control Or Manual Aircon?

Almost time for my MINI to start the build process.

One last question though - what do people here prefer, the Climate Control or Manual Aircon?

I was all set to go for the manual air but then thought climate would look nicer with its display and all !!

God help me, if they dont build this soon it'll end up with more extras than an episode of Eastenders...

I'd go for manual aircon, but it's very much a personal choice.

I'd go for climate control. No fiddling required, plus it looks nicer on the dashboard...

Climate does look good but expensive.. I opted for climate on madams car because I had it on my last Audi and got use to just setting the figures and let it take control.

I know we could have had other extras if we went for a manual, I hardly use it to be honest unless we're doing over 50mph. I just leave the sunroof and windows open.

Let us know what you decide

Manual Air.

Haven't I read somewhere that with CC the aircon pump is always working, but with the manual it doesn't so you get better fuel economy (of course I actually mean power ).

OK...manual aircon. I'm convinced

no, that's false. You can turn the pump off with both. In fact, you're more likely to get better consumption with cc, but the difference is negligble...

I'd go for climate, it's only £230 more expensive than manual but is so much easier and looks 100% better too

I agree with Dom

Also in 3 years down the line when you come to sell the car probably all new (decent) cars will have it as standard and will be a desireable option to have

Just my opinion

Once youve had CC you might not want anything else again. Our family wagon Saab estate has CC too which is even better than the Mini's as you can have different temperatures for passengers and driver. Cool.

in the Mini the driver sits with the passengers so that CC split isn' really needed!!!!!

Talking of extras go for the MFSW, that really is money well spent. If bugeet can stretch go for CC + MFSW

If it can't (as MFSW is so good) I would just go from Air con +the MFSW

Must stop now its lunchtime!

Hope advice helps. Just get what you like and think best!

Climate Control every time - set the temperature and Bob's your uncle nowt (sorry - for you non Northern England folk 'nowt' translates to 'nothing' ) else to worry about!

Oh and the layout of the controls resembles the MINI logo!

Thanks Dom - although my car does feel less 'stuttery' when pulling away with the air off

I have ordered standard air-con not climate. There were a lot of posts about noise from the climate (which may have affected the air con too), but I decided Id be happy with standard air con. I also went for the 'quickclear' screen which means all four buttons around the three dials will be 'live'. I believe with CC, if you select the quickclear screen it comes on together with the rear screen heater (not enough buttons ??).

Cheers.

I noticed that too - it took me a whole day before I realised.

The marketing boys missed a trick though. If the cc controls were finished in a chrome effect...

...nobody would consider the manual air con.

Thanks for the opinions so far.
I also have the sunroof on my spec by the way.

Mainly thinking of it now from a looks point of view.
I have climate on my car just now and find myself changing the temperature more than when I had manual aircon!

On balance I think I will probably stick with the manual after reading the opinions. That way I also get an excuse to upgrade the MINI to a newer model in a couple of years - "but sweetheart, I really need climate control... ;-)"
