Protecting CD-Changer

I had my JVC 12-CD Changer fitted in to my Cooper this week. It's in the boot because it was way too big for the glovebox and it's velcro'd to the floor of the boot so I can still get at the toolkit etc which is under the carpet.

It just seems a bit exposed though - I'm worried that something heavy that I may be carrying in the boot may fall on it or worse still, liquid spill out of a bottle I may be carrying home from the weekly shop.....

Has anyone got any sort of protection around their CD-changer? I'm thinking along the lines of a cage or something, although that still wouldn't resolve the liquid issue....

Thanks

Pauline - can you not get it fitted vertically on the side panels in the same way the original changer is installed?

The JVC Changer is tiny compared to the original so wouldn't take up too much space. Or take the tools out of the recess and put the changer in there and stash the tools behind one of the boot panels? That way it's out of sigh too!

The standard MINI CD Changer has a metal cage/box which protects it and allows it to be mounted vertically on the drivers side of the boot. If your JVC is roughly a similar size then maybe you could purchase the cage seperately. If it is too big you could pad it out with washers.

The better MINI dealers will cut your carpet neatly so that you can access the gubbins underneath.

Pauline, I think by heavy, you're worrying about the fortnightly trips to Bluewater. Just cut the number of shoes down and the cd changer will be fine!
