Question What is the button with the icon under the hand brake

I've had my chili red for over a month, and still find new things to check out every day.

Anyway, I just saw a new button the one under the hand brake with a small white icon on it.

I could not find it anywhere on the cd manual, and have yet to look in the printed manual.

Can someone tell me what that button does?

Again it's the push button with a white icon (of what I don't know) right under the parking break.

Thanks
Ivanh

It's the reset for the tyre pressure monitor warning light system.

Run-flats

It's to calibrate your RUN-FLAT indicator.

there's a fairly extensive writeup in the owner's manual -

pls read that - 'cos if you calibrate it at the wrong time - eg when your tires are too warm after a long run - the indicator is not going to accurate monitor the pressures.

personally - i don;t use it at all - i prefer the normal pressure gauges.

The same icon is visible (I swear its explained in the manual somewhere) on startup in the speedometer, since its for the tire pressure warning light. Its a flat tires with a ! in it if you look closely enough.

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.

Thanks for the quick reply... I know I know I should have RTFM'd...

but since I did not find it in the cdrom manual, I figured I'd ask here first.

Thanks
ivan

haha

hi Ivan,

in my original post i nearly used the term: "RTFM" - didn't know how you would take it - so i omitted it.

don't worry - i too jumped straight in & drove off without reading the manual.

i know this is off topic - but i feel very strongly about it:

pls goto MINICOOPERONLINE.COM & show some support for them - MINIUSA is taking legal action against their choice of domain name...

I'm surprised that your Dealer didn't cover that switch upon delivery of your car. My dealer took almost 20 minutes to cover the interior (a bit over the top, but he covered everything).

Dutchy.

Sadly INIMINI is gone, but never forgotten.

I had like a 40 min tour of the car... and there was so much to go "wow" at that I may have forgotten...

anyway, now i know... the funny thing, is I could not figure out what the icon meant, as all I could imagine was a naked woman sitting on a shag carpet... <grin>

If by "RUN-FLAT" you meant "low tire", then you are correct. If you actually meant "run-flat" tires, then you're slightly incorrect. The low tire alert works for ALL tires, not just run-flats.

It's all true!

My dealer never resets the pressures for me after my services, and sure enough, the 'bong' chime thing goes on the way to work...

sounds like an aeroplane call button to me!

'bong' "ladies and gentlemen, the fasten your seatbelt light is now off!

Ian M Grinny the mini - Trippin the light fantastic!
