United-Kingdom ICE Options

Hi,

I'm a newbie around here, seems to be the top site for MINI info!

SWMBO wants to get a Cooper as her next car.

I see from the options list a whole load of ICE upgrades.
Is it better to spend the 500 quid to upgrade to single
CD with Harmon Kardon Pack or to save the cash,
then rip out the factory head unit and speakers and
replace the head unit with an alpine and replace the
speakers with inifintys ?

BTW it also seems that the Chilli pack is going up
for December builds cars .....

Thanks

Paul;

Get it done in the factory,

you will have to expect to pay about that for aftermarket stuff. Personal preference, Good Luck

Has had too many minis

This is a popular discussion point, if you do a search through previous posts you will find lots of opinions.

However, thats all they are opinions !

I had this dilemma, but went for the Harmon Kardon. Im happy.

Would I have got a better sound quality with a different head unit and speakers ? Probably, but I'm still happy. Is anyone going to nick the standard head unit ? Doubt it very much.

Best advice I can give is go sit in a Mini with Harmon Kardon, take a few CD's and see what you both think.

Its painfull sitting on this fence...

Paul, welcome to MINI2
Best thing to do is as said above, listen to a HK, then if you can go along to one of the runs and listen to an aftermarket equiped Mini, make your choice. Going aftermarket gives you a few more choices like MP3, WMA, DAB etc but then again I think the Mini MP3 is due about now.
