FALL "SALE" ON WHALEN SHIFT MACHINES!!

Several folks have asked lately about the possibility of another special sale on WSM shift knobs, and I am happy to oblige.

For any order placed by a member of MINI2 during the month of October, I will offer free engraving, a savings of $20.00.

As usual, shipping within the States is free; but I'll extend that to include orders from the UK and Europe, as well.

A sincere THANK YOU to all of my previous customers for their wonderful support!

Enjoy the Fall season, my favorite time of year!

Now turn off your computer, and go out and drive your MINI!!!

Thanks, Darksman!

E-mail and FAX both work well for me.

Right now I'm having some software problems, and I can't send in a credit card transaction.
I don't know what the problem is, but I'll have to stick with Paypal or personal check/money order for now.
Hopefully my computer fix-it guy can get to the bottom of this problem soon!

Doug,

Oh no hopefully your guy will be able to sort this out as I was hoping to pay by credit card, easiest form of payment from the UK

I was hoping to have the knob engraved a little like Gazah's as attached but instead of GAZAH have my name ISAAC. Would this be possible?

Gazah, If you read this apologies for copying but I really do like the idea, and they do say imitation is a form of flattery

Ok Doug.
I'll be the first to ask.............here it comes....................how about those E-Brake handles

I just put your knob on my new short shifter. (I wasn't buying one until I could keep the knob) The fit is very good and it feels just great on the shorter arm as well. Along with the solid bushings running through the gears is MUCH better.

Thanks again Doug.

Doug is still taking payments via Paypal. Paypal is a payment handling company so you will still be able to use your credit card.

I'm sure Doug or someone will explain how.

Well, you might be in luck pretty soon!

I ordered a parking brake lever from my nearest dealer, and it's in! They won't ship it to me, (it's 90 miles away, in Chicago!) and I may go and pick it up tomorrow.

Hopefully I'll have something whipped up before long; stand by!!

It's a measure of how outstanding the WSM knob is that even though I only got mine 3 weeks ago (DOH! ) I can't imagine driving another MINI without it. Even my wife who drives the car more than she should (DOH again ) and who thought I was nuts for spending $150 now says (unprompted) how much better the car is to drive with Doug's shifter.

If any MINI2 member has just got their MINI and hasn't bought a WSM I absolutely recommend it over any other mod. (Even the Works upgrade .)

Buy one now!

ASTRONOMICAL Challenge for Doug's 'Whalen Machine'

A few Qs for Doug, -
1)
How much of the top surface can be engraved?
2) How much detail is too much?

Where I'm at, using just enough of the Clock's arching lines (from center to numbered edges) to get the movement sense:

I know, "too much, too much, it's to much"....
But, - if I go with the outer circle/frame, the inner-circle, a clock arm or 2, a few arching-line swoops [alternating shiny & brushed areas for extra difficulty ] & use similar Romanesque numerals: I II III IV V VI ...maybe a few odd symbols...

[I know I can place this image on the rooftop, but then it'd have to change time or blur as we drove, - something dynamic. It's too wonderful a work to be made static, IMHO. Hmm...Who makes roof decals that change into varying images when viewing from different angles? Now that'd be smart!]

...Am I crazy?
We are talkin' about the Doug Whalen Shift Machine here!

What machined movement, if not MINI, - has truly stood the test of time?
Marveling all, from its inception to generations of awe thereafter....[I know, I'm reaching...let me reach for just a moment please, then drag me down & out into the Lion's coliseum. ]

I try to sat within a 1 1/2" diameter circle; otherwise, the cutter falls off the "edge" of the sphere too much.

I never did get a shot of the finished knob, but here is a pic of the engraving, as tested in 2D, on this piece of aluminum.
So far, this is the most detail I've squeezed into that size of a circle.
