Belgium use of back left button of MFSW ?

I've seen a lot of discussion about the old 2 spoke and new 3 spoke multifunction steering weel, but anybody knows why the center button rear left of the steering wheel has no function ? or does it in any other market than Belgium ? For info the front buttons are for cruise control and the rear buttons are for radio and CD: the right center is for mode switch from Radio to CD but the left one ??? Is there any possibility to activate it ?

Thanks for info...

If you fit an aftermarket stereo & a mfsw adaptor it is used, on SONY it is a mute, if using a swix universal adaptor you can use it for anything.
I think the factory intended it for some kind of phone use which never happened

Strange.......Extra button on the steering wheel that does nothing, but missing a switch on the switch panel that could do something.

I know.......my MA is getting the parts for the rear fog, so when I pick up my MCS (begining of next month) it will have it on it (if everything works out all right).

That would be the neatest garage door trick yet (as much as I like the light flashing method!).

I suppose its not a difficult trick as long as the MFSW button in question is just a standard momentary (only completes it's circuit while it is held down). I have soldered onto my current opener remote with an inexpensive momentary button and it was not hard at all (trial and error on where to complete the circuit. I guess I would just need to know where to tie into the MFSW set up. BUT, I suspect that the buttons on the steering wheel are a little more complicated than just standard momentary buttons. I am imagining complicated relays, computerized signals, magic, etc, all too much for my little brain to handle.

Michael

When I hold in the left middle button on my mfsw and then press either the track up or down buttons next to it the current cd track is either fast-forwarded or rewound (if you can rewind a cd!).

Doesn't MINI give you (me?!) any sort of owner's manual that explains this stuff? I've got until December and the more I read...the more I realize I'll have to keep reading and keep asking questions, unless someone else asks them first.

I was pretty sure you could FF or Rewind the CD just by holding the right buttons up and down, the same as you can on the head unit by holding >> or <<

They do have an owner's manual. Its actually available in PDF through the owner's lounge on miniusa's site. The point is that there's a button that doesn't do anything (unless GOLDMINI's found something). So everyone gets to asking.

Ohh, and you'll learn quickly, not everyone on here reads the manual cover to cover before asking questions, so sometime they are just in the manual, but we try and answer even if they are.

Magic 8-ball was correct. All be in awe of Magic 8 ball.

You're right, Stryder. Holding the Up/Down button without the middle button pressed will do FF/RW. I use it all the time.
