Possible free new cupholder with '04 Minis

I was in my dealership today checking on parts prices for my new '04 when I noticed that all the new showroom cars had a Mini-Fini cup-link cupholder installed. My salesperson said that the cars are being delivered that way and that this will probably continue for at least six months. Some of you might remember that Mini sent out thermal stainless steel cups to appease those of us who complained mightily about not being able to fit our supersize-quench-the-thirst-of-a-small-town-coffee-slurpees-smoothies-whatever. The inclusion of the Mini-Fini cupholder is taking the place of that courtesy.

The cars I saw them in were '03s, so I'd guess this started whenever the Mini-Fini became an official BMW part. I'm hoping that my car has one when it arrives next month.

(I hope folks don't mind starting a new thread rather than adding onto some other threads on the cup-link. I just couldn't figure out which one to reply to.)

There's a thread (or two) about this already. Probably stop come late summer when the new interior is around.
