Am I the only one who didn't know that MINI was no longer intalling their alarm systems at this point? Mine is a 2004 Nov. production and I just picked it up today only to find there was no alarm system installed!
Choices: wait and get one in January, hopefully, or find another version and have it installed.
P.S. It seems I only thought I'd ordered an alarm...actually it would have been installed at the dealership, me thinks. Oops! Still I was surprized to hear they'd discontinued it for now.

Reason: double checked my orginal order
Well apparently my dealership will not have 'em until the new year - hopefully in January. Til then I'll just have to cast a magic spell around the MINI, I guess...but seriously, they say if someone really wants to steal it they'd do it alarm or not. Here's hoping they don't!

Even without the noisemaking alarm your MINI still has a full set of anti theft features. Without one of your keys they will not be driving it, or even starting it. I worry more about possible scratches than theft
since your MINI is pre-wired the actual installation of it is pretty simple, although the 03 is slightly different from 04 I don't imagine it should take any longer then the 30 minutes it took for me to install mine. If you need a hand with it or something lemme know BB I can help. The only thing you'll need to do is pay the dealer their $53 (thats what MoFC charged me) to program it
Gene, you're very kind. I just was looking for Classic MINI of Ohio's site and couldn't find it.
As for MoFC programing it, well I dunno. I was rather taken aback when they would not put my snow tires (granted bought from Tire Rack) on for a nice fee.
If you've got the site for Classic MINI of Ohio, can you give post it? Thanks for being such a great help, Gene.

Thanks you guys. I sent Brian an email and got one back - with the discount. However he's got 92 on backorder and the beginnings of a waiting list! Just for fun, I'll see what Fairfield MINI says...
The big key for me is installation. Gene, I've sent you a PM regarding this.
Again, muchas gracias!

Installation is really not difficult. In the '03 model there were four parts that you plugged in and bolted down. The '04 model is supposed to combine the tilt sensor and siren making only three installable parts.
The interior sensor takes about 60 seconds to plug in and snap in even being careful. The siren under the hood takes about 10 minutes to unwrap the wires, slide the unit in, twist it around just right, plug it in and bolt it down. Finally you'll spend about 15 minutes following the instructions to take the cover off your steering wheel, pull about four screws and swap out the wiper stick. Done except for dealer programming.
Think of the install as a safe and easy way to get to know your MINI better.
OK, Sean - I'm going to stick my husband in front of the computer and let him read everything you all have written and see what his reaction is. He's a cabinet maker and pretty good at stuff...but you know what they say about "the shoemaker's children"!
