Just done a search on this and i can see that this topic has been raised before and split opinion. Indeed the debate got pretty heated as too which was best. I guess as with so much about the mini it is down to personal opinion. That is what makes it such a great individual car.

Well i've had both now and i like then equally. Both have got there advantages, the centre horn on the three spoke is much easier to 'find' when needed in an emergency, on the 2 spoke wheel i found depending where the wheel is you have to look down at it to see where the buttons are on the 3 spoke you just have to hit the centre. And only having small hands i found the spokes on the 2 spoke wheel a little thick. But the design of the 2 spoke is more MINI than the more modern 3 spoke design. ![]()

I drive two minis, one with 3 spoker and one with the 2 spoker, and after many miles of back to back comparisons my verdict is that their just as good to hold as each other!!, I like the 3 spoker as it has the MFSW, but the rims are both nice and fat, it boils down to is the styling of the wheel, and that is personal. In my opinion the 3 spoker looks better in the flesh than the first spy pics. Miniminor, what part of staffordshire are you from? ![]()

After having seen both types of steering wheels in person, here's my opinion: - the back on the leather steering wheel on the 3-spoke has indents on it, to allow for better grip of the steering wheel. However, some people might prefer the lack of it on the 2-spoke version, as that allows for one to 'slide' one's hand over the wheel during high-spirited driving. - I would prefer the 3-spoke steering wheel if one did not choose the MFSW option (the 2-spoke looks 'incomplete' without the additional MFSW buttons). However, with the MFSW option I would go for the 2-spoke. Seems silly to be willing to lose functionality for style (6 buttons on the audio controls of the 2-spoke, vs the 4 on the 3-spoke). - while the 3-spoke is quite nice looking, the central hub is just a tad too bulbous to be 'perfect'. Also, the 3-spoke seems to stand out on its own, rather than looking like an integrated component of the dashboard. In this regard the 2-spoke 'fits' better.

Today my mini cooper went back to dealer for repair and they gave me a brand new cooper s with a three spoke mfsw to drive about in. I loved the car and i have to say theat i was very impressed with the mfsw. It is great not having to reach across to the stereo. It is true that the controls are very playstation but they are practical and the steering wheel felt great and looked better than in the pictures. After driving the s about for the day it was hard getting back into my cooper.
