United-Kingdom Which Head Unit Should I Go For???

Right then guys and gals...
Here are the head units and prices that I am looking at:

Pioneer DEHP7500MP- £219.99 (quick question... does the display glow white or green?)
Pioneer DEHP77MP- £229.99
Alpine CDA-9812RR- £269.99

These prices are from www.caraudiodirect.co.uk.

Anyone got any views on these head units as to preference, quality, performance.
Alternative recommendations around the sam price range??

Cheers for any useful info guys as I need a head unit badly and have now got the cash burning a hole in my pockets!!!!

Hiya Ben,

I have the alpine 9812 and it is a fantastic, if you go for the silver finish it is only £239.99 and looks pretty good in the dash ( from www.mcs-direct.co.uk). And www.cel-direct.co.uk have both unitsfor £249.99 I have bought from both of these peoplein the past and they are very good and reliavble. Even with the standard speakers this unit sounds a LOT LOT better than the standard offering from Mini you can even get a reasonable amount of bass with it.

If you haven't got one already I have a 6 month old wiring harness/fascia adaptor and arial adaptor for sale - means you can fit the stereo to your car in about 5 minutes.

J.

Right, Cheers for the info J! You've got pm re harness etc. How close is the red to the standard dash red on the 9812?

I would always contact Mikeythemini (newministuff - sponsor) and ask him. Yes of course he is running a business but is always full of usefull information and very helpfull. He might even be able to supply cheaper and you will also need the conversion kit to fit a standard HU in a MINI. Hes the best bet as far as I am concerned.

Unfortunately, £400 is a bit ott for a head unit imho! It may sound nice but I dont have that sort of cash for a head unit due to a new hobby (go-karting!!!). Looking at no more than £300. Preferably under £250 though.

Are we allowed to promote a company due to a good experience

If so,

I'll second the comment on Mikeythemini. I got a Clarion DXZ838RMP fitted to my Mini the day after picking it up.

Also got some headlight flashers (little red LED's that continuously flash). Nice little security feature and is great for finding the car in a dark car park late at night

Great service.

Just been checking out that Clarion. Does look very tempting! Where's the cheapest UK price to get it from? Anyone know? I've only found them at around £260 which is a bit much for me now as I've just had to buy a go-karting suit!!!! Too many hobbies!!

Ben,

I went for the 77MP unit as it matches the interior pretty well is well designed and looks 'retro'. I got the MFSW/Dash kit from Mikethemini and will hopefully get to fit it in the car soon. The reason I went for it is mainly looks (there are some pics on here with the unit installed) and the fact it is MP3 and doesn't have many flashing lights.
