ICE - BMW MINI Sound Modul Upgrade Info

Contribution re MINI ICE: I have just had the MINI sound modul fitted (Jan 2004)at my local dealer (Lincoln UK) to my MINI Cooper S. The module is available through BMW dealers and is ordered from Germany, takes around 5 days to order and although designed for LHD minis can be dealer fitted to RHD by a simple modification. The kit comprises 6 speakers , cabling, and booster amp (30W RMS per channel). The amp mounts behind the central speedo.

Sound is very good and a MARKED upgrade from the radio boost system. Total cost fitted will be around £700. This is considerably cheaper than the Harman system. Don't upgrade with the Sony speaker system (no booster amp). The speakers are harsh and fatiguing and overpriced - the Sound Modul is the one to go for.

£700 is still not worth it, can get far better aftermarket for the money, AND still keep the same head unit.

£700 includes fitting - module kit otherwise £387 + vat if you want to fit yourself. Head unit is not changed - module adds an additional booster amp.
