Sat Nav Screen Cold Weather Problems

I've noticed that a few of you have had problems with your LCD Nav screens not functioning properly in cold weather.

Anyway, I was sitting in my MPV waiting for the missus yesterday, got bored and decided to read the Nav manual (VDO Dayton MS5000). The manual stated that the screen and unit were designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -25C to +65C. Now I've never had a problem with the screen even in max minus temperatures of -4C. So if one manufacturer can produce a screen that operates in cold weather then why can't MINI?

There is just one moon and one golden sun; And a smile mean friendship to ev'ryone; Through the mountains divide, and the oceans are wide; It's a small world after all.

I thought the MINI nav was just the OEM version of theVDO Dayton; not so?
