Unhappy IPOD Mounting and needs

Hi,

I Finally made up my mind and decided to go for the 15GB Ipod.

Now I think I need the following parts for installing the Ipod into my car:
* Brodit proclip for the MINI
* Brodit clip for the IPod
* Dension ICE-LINK for attaching my IPOD to the HU
Now i don't know how the Ipod needs to be charged. I read something about a charging Firewire cable or something, but I haven't got a clue where to get this item.
Anybody can help me how I can charge my (future) Ipod?

Do you suggest buying the 20GB (because it contains the Dock) or is that not needed??

I also would like to see how people mounted their Proclip. This way I can see how I should do this.
Any help from you all is welcome and I hope I get a lot of help from you.

Best regards,
Rabboeni

the charging cable comes with your ipod. it is the firewire to dock connector cable. you will need an extra one because the one in your car will be a permanent installation. you can purchase it directly from apple ($20 in the US)
I suggest the dock, i use mine all the time, and the carry case is a must to avoid scratches. i have found the remote to be useless however. you would only save $20 US by purchasing the 15gb with these accessories, so i say spend the xtra cash for the extra space.

don't much care for the proclip. i went for a custom install.

Alright,
Cost vs Ease of Use?

Mini Aux adapter inexpensive (approx. $40.00) or Blitzsafe (approx. $100) no MFSW control over the iPod or ICE-LINK (approx. $200) which can control iPod
Panavise, Proclip or other mount-The all vary only slightly in cost and it depends on weighing your heartburn over dissambly of the interior parts to access the mounting screws or affixing the mount to the interior by pinching or using sticky tape. Some even have you drill holes in selected parts of the interior.

Honestly all will work. Some are less expensive some are less reliable.

I went with the mini aux and panavise. (I'm cheap and like to take my car apart-Minor note I placed the aux adpater under the toggle switches out of sight but within a 3" cable length to the iPod.

On iPods- you can't have too much memory go for the largestcapacity you can comfortably afford.

Happy Motoring

I still don't understand how you can charge your Ipod. Because you have to connect the Ipod to the cigarette lighter in your car Right? Can somebody sent me some picture of the charging cable?

I will go for the 15GB because the 20GB or the 40GB are very expensive in my country compared to the US Prices.

More help is very welcome!!!!

the ice-link has a built in firewire port for optional charging. all you need if you go that route is an extra of the cable that comes with your ipod. you then plug the firewire end into the ice-link and the other (dock) end into your ipod.
viola it is charging!

follow this link for the Belkin adapter offered by Apple. There is another offered for the older models as well.

ipod charger

They may be less expensive elsewhere, so look around.

Good luck

Don't bother with the itrip. Hardwiring is so easy and so inexpensive using the aux adapter and it sounds so much better.

My cousin sent me an iTrip over from America and I've tried it in the house and the car and it works well.

Need to use a frequency that isn't close to a large station but the sound quality is good (beats the audio tape connector I've been using) and it means I can play the ipod through stereos in the house which is a bonus.

i had read from someone else on this site that it was around the end of march. i am patiently waiting as i will be replacing mine with the new version. i think they may be a bit tired of the question because they haven't answered me either.
