Question Facia adaptors? are they necessary?

my Cooper arrives next week, and i've removed my Kenwood CD head unit and 10 track changer from yu old car, ready to have fitted on delivery on the cooper. My dealer is getting the local HI Fi firm to fit the Unit, but my question is do i really need the Autoleads facia adaptor? The units fon't look too different in size, so can i get away without usinf the facia plate?

Has anyone tried with and/or without the facia plate? How does it look? whats your opinion?

Thanks

Gerry

The fascia plate does make it look slightly better, but isn't really noticeable. Without the fascia plate, the hole in the dash will be slightly too big for the radio, about 3mm if I remember.

You could probably find a way of padding it out without a fascia plate, but it may look a little tacky...

Hope that helps,

Dom

Thanks Dom,
Its only £12, whats the saying? "don't spoil the ship for a ha'penny of tar? I think i'll get it as i would rather it looked good, rather than tacky!

All the best

Gerry
