I just installed this Momo wood shift knob. On cold mornings it is so nice to hold on to. Another big difference is the weight. It is much lighter making the shifting feel very light and fast. It is soooo easy to change gears now. The centering action of the spring loading to align the stick in the 3-4 slot seems to work much better with the lighter knob.
This is 'da bomb !

That looks great! My son is a glassblower by avocation and wanted to make me a glass or pyrex knob. Have any idea what the interior diameter of the stock knob is plus the depth of the hole? I guess I could put the shift in 2nd, turn away, and pull like hell and find out but just a thought that you might know....Thanks
Very Nice. I have a wooden gear shift knob on my to-get list also. How does it secure on the MINI shifter rod? I assume it is a universal fit, and doesn't have the pin to fit the slot or snap fit in the bottom groove. Any slop on the diameter and does the MOMO knob come in more than one shaft diameter?

I had my knob off today, so I measured the gear shaft. The OD of the plastic insert molded part on the shaft is 14mm and the depth to fit to the flange is 47mm.

The MOMO knobs are a universal fit. They come with several different size bushings to ensure a tight, slop free, fit. There are three set screws that make for a very secure and straight fit.
There is no pin or projection to align with the grovoe in the top of the stick.
The MOMO knob is as tight and secure as the original. I can not feel any slop or play when shifting.
The reason that I selected this particular MOMO knob is because it was taller than stock. I wanted to reduce the distance between the wheel and the shift knob. It is only about 1.5"/40mm taller than stock, but it is noticable. It really falls readily to hand when shifting. The other reason that I wanted a taller knob is because I have a short shift kit from MINI Minia to install ASAP. Unfortunately not before RDR II "Spring Heat".
Sorry I did not answer sooner. I have been distracted.
