Dog Seat Cover and Dog protector

Hi

We get our new MCS on the 16th July and I want to get some stuff organised prior to delivery

Basically I want a dog guard that will stop Harry from getting out of the boot onto the back seats, nothing in catalogue is there a specific MCS one?

Also anybody found a waterprrof, cover which is purely for the boot?

I have found one for the back seats, and the whole areas inc boot if you put down the back seats but not just the boot

Any advice appreciated

Simon

ps been waiting 8 weeks, 7 weeks more to go, it's killing is.. I want our car now!!!

Hi Simes,

What dog have you got? must be small for the MINI boot !!!!

I think there is a cover available for the boot with the seats up, I can not find my book to look though.

A dog guard is more difficult as most go floor to roof, and with the angle of the seats it will fill the boot up. You may have to make something.

My advice, leave the mutt at home !!

BTW ive got three greyhounds they don't go near my car.

Hi

We have a med size springer spaniel, he fits fine, we tested him, much to the disdane of the mini dealers, at least that's what his expression told us when Harry jumped into the boot with his claws scractching on the boot paintwork :-) So fussy these dealers..

It's only for short journies basically every day to where we walk him, about 7 minutes so he will be fine , he can see out etc

I was hoping that somewhere they would be a proper fit dog guard, if not index do a collapsable one with sucker things that attach to the roof, then you just pull it down to meet the gap you need

not ideal but will do the job

Anybody know the seat cover code with the seats up, that only protects the boot, dammed if I can find it, they have a cover for every other conbination though

Simes,
I have the cover for when the back seats are folded down which is superb. I haven't seen anything to cover fully the boot area, without folding the seats down. You must have a fairly small dog if you going to squeeze it into the boot?????????

Yah he is little for a springer bless him, I would not have him in there for lon jourines he would sit in the back with the seats down, i have alrready purchased the cover for that it cost me £85.00 but when he goes for his morning walk he goes swimming in the river every day, and i don't even want him in the back with covers then i just want him in the boot

we have a cross greyhound.... he goes in the boot quite regularly (for short journeys...before u go contacting the RSPCA for cruelty!!!)... he is fine in the boot and doesn't try to jump over the seats (which he did in my old Saxo)... the reason why he can't get over is ... well... at the risk of sounding cruel... he physically can't... once he's jumped in the boot... he can't even turn around and face the other direction... he's so wedged in... he loves car journeys though so don't think he's too bothered!!!

In the way of a boot cover... i can't say i have ever seen/heard of one but would like to know if/when you do find one!!!

Simes, We have a Jack Russel Terrier which is too short to sit in the boot and see out, so she used to live in a cage with the seats down for long journeys. First time in it, which was the day the car was picked up, I don't think she could handle the pace of the MCS and puked, which dripped down all over the back seats whilst they were folded down, before I had a cover! She was only sixteen weeks old.

Now when she's in the car with only me, she is allowed to sit on the passenger seat, she obviously has got used to speed now, as she has mastered the step up to JCW without any further puking incidents.

Downside, if you leave her in there while you pop in a shop, she thinks she's a nodding dog and always ends up on the parcel shelf!

Hey Simon,
I bought a standard dog guard. I cutted off the legs that go down. (not to short because i wanted to fit rubber pieces on the end to avoid the dog beeing hurt by the iron).
It original had 4 horizontal bars. I cutted 1 of.
Than i bought a long iron thread and cutted that in 2.
I putted these two in 1 horizontal bar and the other end in the side of the MINI. I drilled holes there to keep it steady. I also made the legs that go to the roof shorter. Not to short because i still needed 1 inch to put the rubber feet back on.

I hope this makes sence. Let me know.
I can always make more pictures if ya want.

Yes, makes sence, thanks very much, looks like the best option.

Did you buy a boot cover ? Like a waterproof thingy to protect the boot from the dirt on your pooch?
