Auto AC climate control

Hi motorers!

I have the automatic climate control in my MCS and I love it but I actually almost never leave it on the Auto mode with A/C on...

I was wondering if many of those of you who got this option leave it on the Auto mode with the A/C on all the time...

depends on the climate that you are in, Im currently in florida, and could see a need for it here, but back home in england, where the weather isnt as predictable I hardly ever use my AC.

+ No AC == better fuel consumption and a more responsive car.

I set mine at 16 deg C and leave it on all the time, there are threads about whether that is a good thing to do or not, worth performing a search using "dietcokeplease" under username and "air con" as key words in a post

It will affect performance slightly and fuel consumption will be slightly more, however the emphasis is on the slightly.

I usually leave it at 21C or 22C and play with the level (+ -). I rarely set it to Auto without the A/C and almost never leave it to Auto with the A/C on...

Im new to the Auto Air con-And I have to say it can me annoying sometimes!!

I find just turning it on manually on 2 bars when it's hot-otherwise it's noisy trying to cool the car down all the time-And also affecting performance!!!!!!!

I leave mine on Auto, cept when I'm demisting. I just asjust the temperature.

Its very clever if you leave it to do its job properly and just ajust the temp if your hot/cold.

You can have it on Auto-set your desired temp then press the button -i.e window-face or feet-then it will heat/cool accordingly

But you can over ride it and use it as Manual Air con aswell.

I've got mine set to Auto all of the time, at 21C-22C. When the AC isn't needed for cooling or demisting that's switched off, to save some fuel. This is more on a seasonal than on on a daily basis though... The only slightly annoying thing is that auto fan speed seems to try to simulate the air flow of a higway cruise, even when you're standing still. The effect on the temperature and humidity etc. are great, but it's kind of noisy when driving at low speeds. The automatic selection of which outlets to use works quite well, using windows+feet for heating in the majority of cases, and chest for cooling, which happens to be my favorite setting. If there were one design issue, it would be the location of the temperature sensors. Whenever my stereo head-unit runs hot (Sony CDX-MP80) it seems to affect the sensor reading by several degrees. This effect takes quite a long time to develop, but I do need to turn the control up by a degree or two after about half an hour. All in all, I would buy the auto a/c option again for my next MINI (who am I kidding..., the next one probably will be)

2004 Cooper S, DS/B, LB/PB, DSC, ITS, MFSW, ... (all options except for ICE, SatNav, Xenon's and PDC).
