Question Factory Alarm

I just got my factory alarm installed by my local dealership. I am sure it works great but I can't set it off to find out. I don't want to learn if it works when it gets broken into. Is there a security setting on these things? Most car alarm systems can be programed for high or low intensity. I want mine med-high, especially with all the mods i've done.
HELP

Why can't you test it out? I rolled my windows down and licked the car. Waited a few minutes, then stuck my hands inside the window. IT WORKED!

Not sure about the question of settings though.

So you tested the saliva detector - what about the rest?

2 ways to test it that MINI dealer used when my system had to be replaced.

1) volumetric internal alarm - get in car set alarm, sit still and then wave arms - WHOOOOOWHOOOOO etc
2) tilt sensor alarm - set alarm and then jack the car up, soon as one of the wheels is off the deck - WHOOOOOWHOOOO

Yes there is a small box attached to the inside roof which is a motion sensor.

Does the alarm go off when you try and open the locked doors or the hatch??

Sit inside the car, lock it using the remote, and sneeze or jiggle about - that will set it off

In order to open locked doors and hatch, you must first disable the alarm.

You CAN open a locked door by using the key in the lock, however, you only have 20s or so (not sure if this is the correct interval, have not timed it) to disable the alarm by putting the key in the ignition.

I think you may need to put the key in the ignition as well as turn it to the first notch in order to diable the alarm using the key - this is what I do when I use the spare key which is not a remote key. Someone should check and verify if this is necessary

The tilt alarm can be disabled by pressing the lock button twice in quick succession - you can see the LED changes from steady blink to intermitent blink
