Just a quick note to let you know that the details have been listed concerning Alpine's iPod link: the Alpine iPod Interface, KCA-420i.

This looks like the solution I know I have been waiting for!!! Much more elegant than the BMW link. Of course it also has its price.

Crap, I have just bought a Clarion HU. pants pants pants. Oh well nevermind. I guess I'll have to buy a iTrip then. No fussy installs. Btw any feedback on an iTrip?

Sounds like a good deal... the only problem I'm gonna have is that both of my underseat cavities are already used up by amplifiers. Where can I stash the box for the iPod interface? Anybody have experience hiding things under / behind the dash?

Anybody know about getting US Alpine headunits to work with the MFSW? The euro Alpine stuff, with an "R" at the end of the model numbers, seems to work with a hardwired remote, and there's an MFSW adapter that can be plugged in. They US versions seem to only have an IR remote... so, no plug on the back for an MFSW adapter to get plugged in. Of course, since it's IR, the SWIX thingy could be used...

There's never an easy answer, is there?

Anyone can recommend an Alpine unit that will work with this? I know it needs to have AI-Net, just wondering what everyone is using.

hi all,
i have just purchased a TransPod FM Digital transmitter cradle to connect to the car's power source via the cigarette lighter. the transmitter interfaces with an unused fm location and your ipod music is then played through the stereo system. the installation was extremely simple with the possibility of mounting the ipod cradle in a number of positions on the dash board. would be interested to hear comments from anyone else who has used this or a similar device. so far i am delighted to hear all my fav music played randomly...the only minor disappointment is that between tracks there is a degree of static emitted from the radio (not sure if i am using the most suitable fm location).

I haven't done it yet, but from my research it seems you have to go to at least the CDA-9831 to get "Variable button color" so you can have the buttons match the dash lighting. That has an MSRP of $400. Of course you might be able to find it for less if you go through an unauthorized dealer...

If you want in as cheap as possible, it looks like the CDA-9825 is the cheapest AI-Net deck at $200.
