lcd in the dash? questions

Hi, I have a new project for my car, but need some help. What I would like to do is move my manual a/c controls and toggle switch panel down in order to accomodate an lcd that I would permanently mount in the dash. I saw a picture of it on the forum somewhere, but can't find it... there was also no real info about it. Anyway, has anyone done this? How much work is involved and what would I do? Also, what dimension lcd's would fit? Thanks in advance.

Your plans are very ambitious.
Try taking the downtubes off then removing the toggle switch panel and manual a/c. You will discover all the connections which make your plans difficult. MINI is not designed with lots of slack just in case someone wants to move everything around.

well, it's not exactly what you're after but this is the only way i've ever seen it done!

& this thread gives you a look at exactly what's involved once you get in behind the radio/aircon/toggles!

How about that Panasonic one that tucks in when you're not using it? That looks pretty cool.
