best location for handsfree mic?

Last Saturday I installed SonyEricsson HCB-30 bluetooth handsfree. I got 04 S model, no sunroof, and I do have that little oval plastic cover for factory mic.
So I installed mic there, pointing of course down (velcro-ed on the sides to sides of oval plastic cover).

While the clarity and volume of my voice is adequate when car is still or slow speed, it's practically unusable if driving at interstate speeds (55MPH+). To be more specific, my voice get "hidden" by road noise. I had to shout for the other side to hear me.

So, anyone has other ideas for mic mounting? Maybe mount it outside the plastic cover? Maybe in A-pillar?

Anyone?

Thanks,

Dami

Mount it on the outside of the cover
We see problems on lots of cars when people mount them behind the mike covers

Dami, my HCB-30 mic is fitted in the driver-side compartment of the sunroof control, and unfortunately the quality is very poor at pretty much anything about 30mph. I keep meaning to move it to outside the plastic cover... or maybe even splicing on a better mic.

I mounted my mic much like on RVW's car, although I put it behind the clock and in front of the mirror, people always ask how long ive had it and that they never have noticed it as it seems to blend into the mirror base.
