Question Mini Sat Nav

Hi from me a newbie on this site! I already have a Cooper, but am changing it in September for an Electric Blue Cooper, the dealer is now asking me to form up my spec, I am considering the Mini Sat Nav......is it any good?

I have experience of BMW Sat Nav in my M3 and find it really good, just wondering if its similar, the dealer has no Sat Nav equipped cars to demonstrate to me!!

Any help much appreciated!!!

Hi there - welcome to MINI2

It is very similar to the standard BMW system (which I have in an X5). I'd say it's identical but I have a feeling there are some small differences, other than the default setup. No TV function tho' (other than aftermarket options)

hi jason,

i opted for the mini sat nav. worth every penny imo... if you're like me and have no idea where you are. it's also great for finding mini runs.

from what i've seen, it's very similar to the bmw sat nav, but the radio controls are separate and as abg said, no TV. you can get a bmw tuner system from ebay which will work with it.

good luck on your order.

jas

I think it’s worth the money (imo), especially if you are a frequent traveler. I have been traveling solo lately and it helps not to have to refer to a map every few minutes.

Jason I have it in my Mini ONE and I thank the day I changed my order to include it in! Its one of the best spec's you could go for. Its not a cheap option by far but its worth every penny in my opinion.

I like the idea od satnav in the car, just hate MINI's price thats why i opted for pda based satnav instead. I adds up like this £1500 or so for the MINI integrated system or the pda way £244 for a dell axim X5 plusaround £240 for the tom tom navigator software, sat reciever and car mount and its portable too. I am more than happy with the tom tom navigator 3

Yikes! Guess we Yanks luck out. Our price is equivalent to 916 pounds. It's actually one of the more reasonably priced in car NAV systems here. Only $1600 for my CD based system at the time. NAV for my wife's Acura would have been $2200.

It's very nice, and very like the BMW system. IMHO worth the money, especially if you're exceedingly crap with directions like me!

Thanks for all the comments, I have the BMW SATNAV + in my M3, and cant live without it! So I have today said yes to SATNAV, my car is goinginto build on Monday and will be at the stealers in three weeks. I am going to hold off until 1/9/4 for delivery.

Thanks again for your advice and comments.
