Fitting a MFSW Steering Wheel

How hard is it to fit a MFSW and wire it up to a Mini Cooper which doesnt currently have a MFSW?

Biiig, expensive and complex job. 3.5 hours for a dealer to do.

IIRC I had a quote last year from BMW to upgrade my MCS to MFSW and it was in the region of £2000 - needless to say I didn't bother!

£2000?! Was that from 2 spoke to 3 spoke?

A straight 2 spoke to 2 spoke MFSW will cost you £430 for the non sport wheel (ie no thumb grips and pin holes) and £460 for the sport wheel. Add to that the cost of 3.5 hours labour at your dealership.
You're generally talking about £700 - £800 all in.

I had the 2 spoke non sport MFSW wheel fitted to my last MINI back in Jan last year (before I worked for a BMW/MINI dealer) and it cost me a similar amount to the final cost mentioned here.

D**k Lovett in Bristol quoted for the work and at the time it ruled the change out completely. Not sure that I can be bothered with swapping now anyway, I have had the car for nearly a year and you don't miss what you have never had!

Cheers

Loads of wiring, and it also requires coding to function. Like I say, it's far from an easy job.

Do you recon you could approach a MINI mechanic out of office hours and see if he fancies doing it on the weekend for a small fee?

There's not many techs who'd want to do the job in hours, let alone out!
