Does anyone know what the output on the BOOST CD is? As in a Sony HU maybe 45W per channel etc.

As you can see, i'm not a techie!

15 Watts per channel according to the brochure. Not always a good way to compare stereos though.

Cheers, Peter

It's the only measurement for power (although some companies used to measure it in different ways - RMS or PMPO). Its just not the best way to compare sound as there are so many different variables (Signal Clarity, Speaker design & sensitivity).

I don't profess to being an expert but just listening to your favourite music through each system is always a good test.

HTH, Cheers, Peter

Of course I am making a big assumption here...you are using power ratings to choose your next stereo...otherwise ignore my messages and the answer to your question is simply 15 watts

The Boost units use a TDA7454 for the output stage, here are the official specs:

4 x 40W into 4 ohms MAX or
4 x 35W into 4 ohms EIAJ or
4 x 25W into 4 ohms @ 14,4V 1KHz 10% or ***
4 x 60W into 2 ohms MAX

*** measurement is close to the RMS reading which in my opinion is the only reliable measurement to make comparisions with.

So 15W is probably a resonable assesment considering that the speakers are only rated at 15W and are 5 ohms.

Note that the chip is 2ohm stable so you could get more out of it.
