DIY Alpine Install

Hi,

I should be picking up my new Cooper S Convertible on the 18

The first job I want to do is install my Alpine 9813 to replace the wave
radio cassette, still can believe that they think people still want this . . .

To do this I guess I will need a harness adapter, facia plate and aerial adapter.
How do I interface the steering controls from the 3 Spoke wheel to the head unit
will the alpine KCE-861B do the job, or does the steering wheel interface depend
upon the wave or boost pins like the harness adapter ? Is there also a dependance
on whether it is a 2 or 3 spoke wheel ?

Thanks in Advance

Thats exactly what I did when I got my MCS, and incidently how I found this site.

I wasnt sure at all what I needed and as usual I couldnt find the site that had all parts required to cut postage costs. After I found this site though I was prompted to visit www.newministuff.com its mikeytheminis site and within two days I had all that I needed. The alpine stereo requires an additional ariel adaptor which mike sent out as soon as I told him that the one included didnt fit. Also he was very helpful over the phone. He stocks the msfw adaptors for various head units, there is a "sticky" thread that you will find at the top of this forum which informs you of what is available.

I think from memory the msfw adaptor fits between the iso plugs. You need the wiring harness to get some ISO plugs to play with first though ! All of your assumptions of what you need are correct but as I said before it may be worth mentioning its for an alpine so that the additional ariel adaptor can be included (havent looked at the site to see whether this can be ordered, but there is a notes section).

Do you want a job MiniBlake?
The MFSW adaptor includes a harness adaptor so does differ depending on wave or boost
Also we offer a cheaper alternative - than the alpine but only for 2 spoke wheels at the moment

Hi,

The car will have a bog standard wave radio with a
3 spoke MF wheel. The Alpine I have is 9813,
will this work with the alpine kce864B ?

Thanks

Trophy,

I'm asking the same question - I'm awaiting a call back from Alpine UK technical bods as to whether the adaptor will work OK with the 3 spoke MFSW.

On an aside you mentioned the kce864B but Alpine's website has the 861B listed for the Mini. Have you heard something else?

Hi,

Alpine list the kce-861b for the mini but this seems to have flat pins!
The kce-864b is listed for bmw 3 series etc and has 17 round pins. The
guess is that this should work with the wave radio, as the connectors are
the same, but who knows about the electronics !

Paul;

BTW when is your car coming ?

Ah-ha, makes some sense, heard there were differences between the Wave & Boost connectors (mine will come with Wave too - currently trying to find someone who can tape something for me so I at least have something to listen to day 1!)

My car is due at the dealers on the 17th, I checked that it was still on schedule yesterday. I've booked in already to collect the car at 9am on the 24th as I'm away on business Mon-Thurs that week. Guaranteed the good weather will continue until the 23rd!!!

Hi,

So the shopping list is a facia adapter, aerial adapter, kce864b and possibly a harness adapter. The picture of the adapter seems to have loads of cable so may not need an harness adapter, see http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/...roducts_id+458

How much will this lot cost ?

Thanks
